The Mathews Family has been keeping South Texans cool and comfortable since 1957.  My father Richard Mathews started Mathews Heating and Air Conditioning when my mother was pregnant with me.  I grew up in the business and started by cleaning the shop when I was 8 years old.  In 1998 a nation wide consolidator, Service Experts, came along and wanted to buy our company.  My father, my brother Rick, and I owned the company at the time.  We agreed to sell so that my father could retire.  The corporate life was not for us.  Rick left the company after two years, and after a total of four years I had all I could stand of the corporate mentality and quit.  I was the last of the Mathews family at Mathews Heating and Air.  I then bought CCAC air conditioning.  Now I can take care of customers and do what is right for them.  The corporate mentality is Revenue and Profit.  They give lip service to taking care of customers, but when it comes down to it they don't care about anything but the profit.
